George Mitchell

Director
Hydrodynamic and Water Quality Modelling Strategy, Market Analysis, Development of Clusters

George has 35 years’ experience in applying numerical modelling and simulations in a wide range of applications: from real time offshore simulators to solving problems in the natural environment using 1D, 2D and 3D modelling systems. He has developed models and undertaken audits of models of coastal, estuarine and fluvial water quality for the Scottish, Northern Ireland and English Environmental Regulators. His current principal focus is in the area of heat dissipation from outfalls of all sizes and assessing the feasibility of using water bodies for heat sinks to enhance use of renewable energy resources. He has developed a very detailed modelling system for fluvial thermal profiles. George headed the Hydrodynamic Modelling Team at Atkins for over 20 years. He holds a degree in Civil and Systems Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science by Research from James Cook University, North Queensland, and is a Member of the British Computing Society.
